Winona is a 2 1/2 hour drive southeast of  Minneapolis-St. Paul and a 4 1/2 hour drive from Chicago.  The city of  27,000 is located on the Mississippi River and has a rich history dating back to Minnesota Territorial times.  Winona State University was founded in 1858, and is the oldest institution in the Minnesota college and university system.
