In my family and in the area in Norway where I grew up, emigration history is a part of both family and local history. Immigration and emigration to and from America has been a part of our history from the 1850’s to the 1970’s. I have been researching my mother’s line back to my grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother and learning of their "American adventures.” All four of them have a history of emigration/immigration between Norway and America. In America they lived in Willmar, MN, Tacoma, WA and Brooklyn, NY. I will talk about how and where I have found information about my ancestors in Norway and in America and how I have followed their tracks back and forth between the United States and Norway. I have been working to "paste the family together again" by using online sources as well as primary sources such as church records and secondary sources like bygdebøk in Norway and the resources of my American cousins.
