As we near the quarter-century mark in this 21st century, and the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Immigration to America, we need to ask ourselves some serious questions about sustaining and celebrating our heritage. How should we look to the future?

Karen Annexstad Humphrey became enamored with history while a little girl growing up at Norseland a Scandinavian enclave in Nicollet County.  She is the immediate past-president of the Norwegian American Historical Association, and the Minnesota Historical Society, and is currently serving on the board of the Nation Lutheran Choir.  An independent scholar, she is the author of two books and several articles.  Karen works with individuals and families in philanthropy for the Minnesota Historical Society where she served on the board of directors for 25 years.
